On Sunday a magnitude 6.9 earthquake happened in India along the border of India and Nepal.
The centre of the quake was the northern Indian state of Sikkim and officials say at least 35 people were killed. Moreover, the rescue teams were blocked by rainfall and landslides and people are afraid of increasing the number of deaths.
In Sikkim many buildings were collapsed and power has been cut off in many areas. What’s worse, thousands of people had to spend the nigth outside.
Indian aid workers are unable to reach all affected areas because roads have been destroyed and military helikopters can not take off. Officials say the relief effort can not reach until Tuesday.
Mr Dahal stated that the state government building and the police stations in Gangtok are badly damaged, 1,000 houses collapsed and 100,000 are damaged.
Over the border in Tibet , just 40km away from Sikkim, the earthquake led to landslides disrupting traffic, telecommunications, power and water supplies. Chinese governtment declared that their rescue supplies are on the way to region.
