23 September 2011 09:57

Broadway theatres are to mark the 9/11 anniversary with a performance including Matthew Broderick and Brooke Shields.

They will sing the anthem New York on Friday. Tony Award winners Bebe Neuwirth, Sutton Foster, Joel Grey and Harvey Fierstein will also take place.

The performers will return to the location where they sang the the same song weeks after the attacks happened in 11 September 2001.

Paul Libin, chairman of The Broadway League said ‘Ten years ago Broadway united with the city to communicate that the shows must go on, just as life must. And now Broadway is banding together again to inspire participation in charitable projects in honour of those lost.’

The performance will be part of the ‘I Will’ campaign which stimulates people to support charitable agent.
