6000 Residents in Cuautitlan, northern suburb of Mexico City, have been waiting for flood to recede since last weekend.
After it rained heavily and caused a river owerflow, the flooding began Saturday. 1200 families had to search shelter on higher places. In some locations water levels reached the roofline of homes.
Eventhough some minor flooding happen in Cuautitlan in rainy season, a natural disaster like this has never occured. Residents are accusing insufficient drainage system for the city.
Waters began to recede from the city slowly but this delayed the clean-up and recovery operations. Mexican Soldiers are arrenged to help people who are in need.
